:: The Alien-ation series of images by artist, Graziano Panfili :: depict astronauts in richly photographed yet largely ordinary domestic settings. As Lauren Davis explains over at io9, these images would seem to construct the participant as a separate entity to their environment - as the Other perhaps - by cutting them off from the ordinary and the familiar and casting them as interstellar tourists in an otherwise banal domestic setting.

For Panfili, it would seem the helmets present the wearers an opportunity to dream, to change - to fire up the jetpack stashed in their back yard and escape. On the project’s website, he uses the following quote to summarise the project:
“…everyone has his small rocket, propelled in the blue of the outer space with fragments of himself inside…”
